With the defeat of Senator Mary Landrieu in Louisiana, the goals of the racist strategy Conservatives first introduced in the late 1960s – known as the Southern Strategy – have been attained.
Right after the Civil War until the 1970s the Democrats held all of the high political offices in the South. The South turned to the Democrats because President Lincoln was a Republican and the South blames him for the Civil War or as people in the South saw it: The War of Northern Aggression. Democrats had all of the governorships, U.S Senate seats, and the House seats. The Republicans saw this and decided they wanted the South so they developed the “Southern Strategy.” (It wasn’t until around 2005 Conservatives and Republicans would even admit to enacting the Southern Strategy).
The Republicans and Conservatives now have the entire South just as the Democrats did after Reconstruction.
The Republicans say what they are going to do; and then they make it happen. The Southern Strategy is but one example of this. Something the Republicans also said was they were working towards a “permanent Republican Majority” in the federal government. They are 1/3 of the way there. Right now, because of the Gerrymandering of the Republicans on the state level, they will, barring a miracle, retain the majority in the House of Representatives until at least 2020.
The Republican Party has and is right now using racist tactics in their pursuit of power. In every state that is controlled by Republicans voting restrictions have been put in place to make it harder to vote for young people, poor people and minorities. (Traditional Democratic voters). The State of Voting in 2014
The Republican Party has used racist strategies and racist tactics in a bid to hold onto and to even expand their political power. When you have an organization that has racist goals, strategies and tactics, you can safely say that that organization IS a racist organization.
If you belong to and support a racist organization, then you too, are a racist. There is no way around that. If you support racism – directly or indirectly – you are a racist. When you vote for Republicans you are directly supporting racism all across the country.
Some may say that you can’t paint everyone in the Republican Party as racist. I believe there are some times when you can make a blanket statement about a group of people.
Let’s take this example: The KKK. The Ku Klux Klan is a Christian racist organization. Their entire reason for being is to oppose minorities. They do this through intimidation, changing laws to make it harder for minorities, and they even use violence when other means don’t produce the desired effect. The KKK is a racist organization and everyone who belongs to it; does so knowing they will be engaged in racist actions, ergo KKK members are racist.
The Republican Party is a racist organization, using racist strategies and tactics, therfore anyone who votes for a Republican is themselves racist. People who are not racist do not vote for or support organizations that are racist.
A vote for a Republican is a vote for racism. There is no way around that.
