Americans for Prosperity, (AFP), is an organization within the Conservative Movement. They are primarily funded by the billionaire Koch brothers, two of the most evil men in America and a part of the Greedy Rich class.
AFP recently ran an attack ad in Michigan against ObamaCare. The ad featured a woman by the name of Julia Boonstra. In the ad, Ms. Boonstra talked about how she had cancer, is in the middle of chemotherapy and had her insurance plan canceled because of ObamaCare. She goes on to say the insurance plan to replace the one she lost was more expensive and she couldn’t continue with the doctor she was with under her own plan.
As it is with virtually all these ads run by the Conservative Movement, the claims made fell apart as soon as you take a closer look at it.
From the Washington Post: “First of all, many viewers might think Boonstra lost her doctor, as she mentions her “wonderful doctor” and then says her plan was canceled. But AFP confirms that she was able to find a plan, via Blue Cross Blue Shield, that had her doctor in its network.”
So the claim she lost her doctor was a flat-out lie.
“The claim that the costs are now “unaffordable” appeared odd because, under Obamacare, there is an out-of-pocket maximum of $6,350 for covered expenses under an individual plan, after which the insurance plan pays 100 percent of covered benefits. The Blue Cross Blue Shield plans in Michigan that appear to match Boonstra’s plan, as described in local news reports, all have that limit.”
Meanwhile, Boonstra told the Detroit News that her monthly premiums were cut in half, from $1,100 a month to $571. That’s a savings of $529 a month. Over the course of a year, the premium savings amounts to $6,348—just two dollars shy of the out-of-pocket maximum.”
A hard-hitting anti-Obamacare ad makes a claim that doesn’t add up
The Detroit News learned which plan she chose and reported yesterday that she’ll “at least $1200 compared to her previous plan.
Great news right? Ms. Boonstra is going to save $100 per month.
It would be, except for one little thing: So many Americans have been bombarded with lies about how bad ObamaCare is: those lies have now supplanted the truth.
When told about the details of her Blue Shield Plan, Boonstra said the idea that it would be cheaper, “can’t be true.”
“I personally do not believe that,” Boonstra said.
The Conservative Movement has had such a well-executed propaganda campaign over the last thirty years; there are now millions of Americans who are living in a fact-free zone. All of their “facts” come from the Conservative Movement, Republican politicians, right-wing hate radio, and their religious leaders.
There is a reason that a recent study found that those who got the majority of their news from Fox News actually knew less than those who don’t watch news at all.
The reasons for this aren’t that Fox News isn’t providing the news, it is that what they are offering as “news” is actually a well-coordinated right-wing propaganda campaign to turn America into a country where 400 people do better than the other 310 million.
This is what sane Americans are up against: A whole segment of the country that are not living in reality: A whole segment of society who has been programmed to not accept reality; but rather to accept the faux reality espoused by their leaders.
When a person or persons are not living in reality. That person can easily be determined to be insane. That is what we are fighting against: The insanity of the Conservative Movement, the Religious Right, right-wing hate radio, and Republican politicians.
The fight in this country isn’t between Conservatives and Liberals, nor is it between Democrats and Republicans, or even between geographic locations: It is a fight between those who are living in reality, and those who aren’t.
Remove the insanity from our government: Vote out the insane: Vote against Republicans.
